Goal setting idea for children at Christmas
Sent to me by one of my clients
Each year the Christmas tree came down in a Box and the children used to write messages and draw on the box. Being Welsh we make things last and this built up fond memories.
One of the best things I ever did and would recommend to any parent of youngsters is to buy a Notebook for each child and get them to write in it each Christmas what they want for the forthcoming year i.e. 25 meter swim badge ,learn to ride a bike etc and this is packed away each year with the tree only to come back down in 12 months time.
THE HAPPY ACCIDENT IS THAT the kids start indirectly goal setting -you should see their faces each year when they tick off what they have done/achieved. It gives parents a chance to see what the kids want to do over the coming year i.e. camping/holidays and most important if the kids write the books it builds up a valuable memory of their development and achievements (and hopefully improved hand writing) and a keep sake to give to their own children in the future.
My Daughter had set a goal this year to get into the 3 counties orchestra.
She did and as a proud dad have to tell you got into the Welsh National youth Orchestra of Wales at the age of 14 (youth is under 21). She is now setting goal for British. ( if she gets in there I will have to look for another Job as the costs rise and Nat west salary won't cover that.)
